SUMMARY:Third Tuesday Book Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Chagrin Falls Branch Library for the Third Tuesday Book Discussion as we discuss *Half-Blood Blues* by Esi Edugyan\, the winner of the 2012 Anisfield-Wolf Book Award for fiction. From 1939 Berlin to 1992 Berlin the story follows members of the Hot-Time Swingers\, a popular German American jazz band and the mystery of the band's brilliant young trumpet-player (a black German) who is arrested in a Paris café by the Gestapo to be never heard from again. The book recreates the lost world of Berlin's pre-war smoky bars and the salons of Paris in a vibrant and suspenseful story told in German American slang. Half-Blood Blues is a novel about music and race\, love and loyalty. Everyone is invited to join us. Call the branch library for more details (440-247-3556).
