Oct 18    What Matters Most: Protecting and Connecting Your Family and Your Legacy
The Gertsburg Law Firm and The Lantern of Chagrin Valley are teaming up to provide you with this informative talk to help you plan for your future and your family’s security.

Topics to be covered

5 things you need to do before a health crisis occurs

After a health crisis occurs, it may be too late to take certain actions that could have a significant impact on your ongoing care, your family’s ability to manage your affairs, and the handling of your estate.

You want to make things as easy as possible for your family members who will be looking after you, so thinking ahead is critical, and it need not involve a re-write of your entire estate plan.  There are a few key items that, if addressed, could make a dramatic difference for your loved ones.

In this session, you will learn:

  • The one document that should be probably be re-drafted if it is more than 5 years old
  • The most important conversation you need to have
  • How your cell phone can make a tough situation easier for your family

Giving it all away while keeping them all together: charitable family foundations – not just for the super wealthy

It all starts with your dreams and your hopes.

You dream of doing something big, something lasting, something beyond your family, home, and business that will have a positive impact on the world. Your deepest hope is that your family will stay connected after you are gone, and not drift apart as so many families do. What if you could unite them in a common purpose to work together for something lasting and worthwhile?

Creating a Charitable Family Foundation is a way to achieve both goals: it allows you to leave a legacy that lives on through your family.  It also has significant tax benefits.

A Charitable Family Foundation is a tool for doing good and a tool that allows you to start a tradition of giving that will involve your family for generations to come.

In this session, you will learn:

  • What a Charitable Family Foundation is, and what it isn’t
  • How to know if it is a good option for your family
  • The basics of how a Charitable Family Foundation operates
  • The possible Tax Benefits of creating a Charitable Family Foundation

Oct 22    Chagrin Falls Farmers Market

YHTCF is pleased to announce the return and 10th year anniversary of the Chagrin Falls Farmers Market.  Held along North Franklin Street every Sunday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, it will begin on June 4th and run through October 22nd.   The Market is managed by North Union Farmers Market (NUFM), a non-profit organization that operates several other markets in Northeast Ohio such as the Shaker Square and Crocker Park markets.

Thank you to all our sponsors for their community leadership and generous donations.  Together, we bring this highly popular and much anticipated market to our village.

The Chagrin Falls Farmers Market was voted #1 in the small market category (16-30 vendors) in the state of Ohio and #11 nationally in the same category in a contest held by the American Farmland Trust in 2011.  The Market offers seasonal fresh produce, fruits, vegetables, bakery, fresh pastas, meats, cheeses, herbs and flowers.

Please Note: Out of respect for the farmers and the safety of everyone dogs are not allowed within the market area.
